It’s easy to imagine the perfect day on the Italian coastline: beautiful views, delicious fresh food, and maybe somewhere to dip to cool down before sunset drinks.

That’s what diners get with Cala Vista, without having to fly thousands of miles; this poolside restaurant is on the doorstep at Jumeirah Mina Al Salam, and the doors are now wide open for winter.

Under the guidance of chef Luca Crostelli, Cala Vista’s cuisine evokes homely flavours from across his native land. It is designed to be enjoyed in the restaurant’s serene, relaxed setting.

Crostelli brings a wealth of experience from top restaurants such as Casa Vissani, Il Lago Four Seasons and Tosca, rated as one of Gault&Millau Switzerland’s best restaurants in Geneva. His passion for cooking is a family affair, with every dish giving the sense that the recipe has been passed and perfected through the generations.

Diners can sample from favourites such as the agnolotti, chef Luca’s beautifully braised oxtail ravioli, while the Il Limone (lemon sorbet) will give you a real sense of being in Amalfi.

There are also plenty of fresh new flavours to experience on the menu this winter. The restaurant also has stunning views of Jumeirah Burj Al Arab, which guests can enjoy on the expansive al fresco terrace.

It’s quite appropriate that the hotel — which means Harbour of Peace in Arabic — offers such a lovely lazy day of relaxation at Cala Vista, with pool passes starting at AED500. Half of that is redeemable credit to spend on the gorgeous array of Italian food and beverages.

The venue provides excellent hospitality, and as you might expect from an Italian hotspot, Cala Vista is very family-friendly. You can bring children for a pool day from AED250, with AED125 to spend in the restaurant.

The Pranzetto Set Lunch menu at Cala Vista is available on weekdays, 12:30pm to 3:30pm, priced at AED120 for two courses and AED150 for three courses.

Meanwhile, Luca’s Table is a special chef’s table experience for six to 10 people, during which guests are served by chef Luca himself. Luca’s Table Starts from AED900 per person, with the possibility of elevating the experience with a curated pairing of wines from restaurant manager Pasquale Sommella.
